Tsawwassen apartment fire claims life of one person

Delta Fire and Emergency Services are investigating a fire early Friday morning (July 13) that claimed the life of one person in the Tsawwassen Terrace apartment building. Fire crews arrived on the scene at the rear of the building on 16th Ave. and 55th St. around 2 a.m. to battle the blaze. An estimated 60 residents were evacuated from the two-storey, wood frame structure and put up at the South Delta Recreation Centre. No official word yet on what caused the fire. Nearby resident Claude Prica said he was woken up by the loud cracking noise the fire was making.
