At approximately 0120am on Saturday October 10, members of the Surrey RCMP Traffic Section were conducting an examination of an accident scene on 144th Street near 80th Avenue that sent three people to hospital after the vehicle they were in rolled over. The roadway was closed to traffic. A vehicle described as a beige Cadillac STS, four door, came up to the roadblock, North of the scene. Instead of turning around, it proceeded without warning and at high speed into the scene where the police officers were working. A civilian volunteer manning the roadblock blew her whistle and alerted the officers who were in the direct path of the vehicle. One of the officers fired his service pistol at the vehicle as it passed. There were no injuries to the officers. It is not known if the vehicle or any of it's occupants were struck. Parallel investigations into the both the dangerous driving and the police shooting have commenced. Surrey RCMP are actively looking for the vehicle and are requesting the public's assistance in identifying the vehicle/persons involved.
